The Rural City of EVOL

EVOLs Rural City

This is the amazing work of Paris-based artist, EVOL. His works include a form of ‘urban-sculpting’, whereby urban and natural landscapes or settings are used to create surreal words. In the “Rural City” (above and below), housing blocks have been ‘dug into the ground’. Initially, I though this was photoshop work, where multiple images are spliced together, but this isn’t the case:

Phenomenal Urban Bird Houses

phenomenal bird house 2

These phenomenal urban bird houses look great, although I’m unsure as to the idea behind them. If your backyard birds would like a kitted-out box painted purple with satellite TV, then this would be just the ticket. The birdhouse below even has its own garden. If you take a look at the following pics, you’ll see how the bird house designs are used in urban environments:

Incredibly Quirky Chalk Art Born in the Streets, by David Zinn

Chalk Art bricks

Check out these incredible examples of street art by talented artist, David Zinn. The way in which Zinn uses blocks of concrete, paving bricks, rocks and the streets in general is totally unique. His work is reminiscent of street artist, Ben Wilson, who paints chewing gum onto sidewalks (over here in the UK, we call them pavements!).

I just love the photo of the cat who appears to be trapped behind prison bar (see further down). What’s your favorite?

Yarn Sculpture Sneakers Look Like Brain and Intestines?

Players and Poster image

These sneaker 3D renderings were a personal project ‘experimenting with colour, surface and intricate pattern making with yarns’; created by UK-based Illustrator, Chris LaBrooy (see previous).

As a side-note—I think the way that the ‘yarn’ is squashed together looks a bit like a cross-section of a brain, or even intestines! Or is it just me? In any case, these designs are visually-stunning, don’t you agree? Check out the gallery below, along with a couple of examples of how they were created in 3D…
