Starwars of the Victorian Era. Who doesn’t like Starwars? Well, to satisfy most of us, here are some amazing digital paintings of four infamous characters. They have been spruced up in Victorian attire by talented illustrator and animator, Greg Peltz. I recently went to see the new Star Wars film with my son at the IMAX near where I live, and I must say, it was great to see C3-P0 and R2D2 on a huge screen again! I don’t really know what these are ‘supposed to be’, however, they sort of look like painted flowers! Maybe they’re clouds of some form or abstract formations, which are drenched in vibrant acrylic paint colours. In any case, I think this installation is a pretty clever idea, with all the flower formations being suspended from the installation ceiling.
These secret and intricate Fore-Edge Paintings are from the Special Collections & University Archives at the University of Iowa, which were provided by Colleen Theisen. She shared stunning gif animations that show fore-edge painting. The technique used shows painting on the sides of old books, that can only be seen when the pages are spread out (as shown in the images below). The Fore-Edge Paintings shown are based upon the four seasons:

I bet the last time you stood on someone else’s chewing gum, you didn’t admire it as art. Well, English ‘urban-graffiti’ street artist Ben Wilson has spent many hours painting the sticky stuff on the pavements (sidewalks) of London. This aptly named “Chewing Gum Art” is pretty unique. As you can see in the following images, Ben certainly likes to get in the thick of it:

Wow! Check out these Ultra-Perspective (Tilt Shift) reworks of famous Van Gogh Paintings. Basically, certain areas of an image are bought into focus, whilst other parts are blurred (which gives the tilt-shift effect).
