Recycled Tire Sculptures by Yong Ho Ji

Used Tire Lion sculpture

These recycled tire sculptures by Yong Ho Ji are totally unique. I can’t remember ever seeing anything quite like them before. What makes these works even more notable is the fact that they’re made from something that is often thrown away or even burned. My favourite is the lion sculpture above. Masayoshi Matsumoto Makes Unbelievable Balloon Animals

balloon catipplar image

Wow! I’m sure that most of us haven’t seen any type of balloon models like this before. Japanese balloon artist and sculptor Masayoshi Matsumoto has created some masterpieces with model balloons. Up until now, the most intricate Balloon Animal that I had seen was a dodgy-looking giraffe! As can be seen in the balloon galley below, Matsumoto has expertly crafted a multi-colored iguana, an orange T-Rex Dinosaur, a Hermit Crab and even an intricate Millipede (or caterpillar?). You can see more of his work over on his site, but here’s a selection of his work below…

These Animal-themed Pencil and Fineliner Illustrations by Andreas Preis are absolutely stunning, I think you’ll agree! I love the sheer originality, use of colour and combinations of sketching with spectacular themes. See more from this set over on Andreas profile page.

About these designs: Personal Project – Printable Size about 80 x 80 cm, 300 dpi. Because a lot of people asked: No, I didn’t use illustrator for this. There are some minor vector graphics which I made in Photoshop. At least 95% of what you see here is done by hand with pencils and fineliners. Colors and structures were added in Photoshop afterwards.

Animal Sculptures - Close Up of Walking Bear's Head

This sculpture was made by Canadian artist, Janice Wright Cheney. It is titled WIDOW. She made two of these bears. One of them is in the largest of contemporary Canadian art show ever produced outside of Canada: MASS MoCA’s Oh, Canada. The bears were created using taxidermy forms. They are covered with velvet and roses which were hand-felted and dyed. WIDOW is one of several animal sculptures Wright Cheney has created during her career.

The Astonishing Animal Chairs of Maximo Riera

Rhino 1

These astonishing chairs were created by Spanish designer, Maximo Riera, who has made sure that the represented animals look realistic and life-like. Reira has created chairs that are based on a rhino, octopus and walrus, but he also has some more coming out soon. These include a lion, beetle and even a whale.
