Timelapsing Yosemite National Park over an Extended Period of Time

I just finished watching this video which shows the stunning scenery of Yosemite National Park in California, USA. As expected, the views are fantastic, but what the filmographers over at ‘Project Yosemite’ did was capture the various views utilizing time-lapse photographic methods using high-end cameras. The whole film was covered over a 10 month period, and the outcome is overwhelming. Take a look at the video and screenshots below…

Project Yosemite is a time-lapse video project set in Yosemite National Park and shot by Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill. We started it in January 2012 after meeting through Vimeo. The idea for the project came to us during our first overnight trip to Half Dome. We’ve been working together since then to capture and share our experiences in Yosemite National Park. We want to inspire others through our work like many others have done for us… [read more here].

National Geographic – Yosemite National Park

In a high-country meadow two hikers crouch near the edge of a mirroring lake and watch a pika as it harvests blades of grass for a nest deep within a huge rock pile. When they resume walking, there is no other person in sight for as far as they can see. And on this sparkling summer’s day, the view seems endless.

In the valley’s crowded mall, families stroll by, eating ice cream, dodging bicycles. People pile in and out of buses. Shoppers hunt for souvenirs. Kids hang around a pizza place. Rock climbers, coils of rope slung over their shoulders, swap stories over beer on a patio. On a summer’s day about 14,000 people are in Yosemite Village… [read more here].

Yarn Sculpture Sneakers Look Like Brain and Intestines?

Players and Poster image

These sneaker 3D renderings were a personal project ‘experimenting with colour, surface and intricate pattern making with yarns’; created by UK-based Illustrator, Chris LaBrooy (see previous).

As a side-note—I think the way that the ‘yarn’ is squashed together looks a bit like a cross-section of a brain, or even intestines! Or is it just me? In any case, these designs are visually-stunning, don’t you agree? Check out the gallery below, along with a couple of examples of how they were created in 3D…

The $9550 BBQ Gun!

Yes, you heard me correct! For a ‘mere’ $9550, this Double-Barrel Pistol-Grip Sawed-Off Shotgun BBQ grill could be gracing the concrete floor of your personal saloon. Maybe not. Well, in any case, I can imagine this metal beast being quite the talking point in the Wild West at 10:10…

Unique Transparent Bubble Tents

Transparent Bubble Tent image

If I had a big enough garden, I’d love to have one of these transparent bubble tents right in the corner. Add a bit of decking, and you have a whole new “room” for your house─never mind a tent! By what I can tell, the transparent globe-like structures need a certain air pressure to keep them in shape. Take a look at the photo of the transparent bubble tent with the snow on top─it looks more like an igloo…
