The Rural City of EVOL

EVOLs Rural City

This is the amazing work of Paris-based artist, EVOL. His works include a form of ‘urban-sculpting’, whereby urban and natural landscapes or settings are used to create surreal words. In the “Rural City” (above and below), housing blocks have been ‘dug into the ground’. Initially, I though this was photoshop work, where multiple images are spliced together, but this isn’t the case:

Again, the following artwork of housing apartments are stencilled onto existing concrete walls (oh and yes, I think that’s the artist EVOL in one shot):

‘Buildings’ in Dresden

I find this set most fascinating. The images below are of an abandoned warehouse floor, with concrete blocks stencilled to mimic housing blocks:
