What do you know about Filter Forge?

- it’s a Photoshop plugin,
- it has an enormous number of filters,
- you may also know that one can create new filters in it.

But to know only this is like to know nothing. And by the way these facts are not at all right. I’ll now try to explain why.

First of all, Filter Forge is not a Photoshop plugin in its common meaning. Yes, it can work as a plugin in Photoshop, but that’s not the whole story. Using such a narrow notion to describe Filter Forge is like to see just the tip of the iceberg. On the one hand, Filter Forge can work under a wide range of hosts, like Photoshop (including the latest version CS 6), Photoshop Elements, Corel Painter and Photo-Paint and others. On the other hand, it can work as a stand-alone program.

Let’s go further. An enormous number of filters – now it is over 9000 – is a finite number. And Filter Forge gives any user a possibility to create an infinite amount of different filters. The stereotype that Filter Forge is only a Photoshop plugin leads us to some kind of misunderstanding as well. If you want to have a huge amount of photo effects – you need Filter Forge.

If you’re a 3D modeler and need realistic textures – you also need Filter Forge.
